Porn at 30,000 Feet
Focus on the Family is urging people to send letters and other complaints to American Airlines as the airline is starting to offer wireless on its flights. Surfing the Internet will be unfiltered and Focus is complaining that travels will be able to browse porn while flying.
Since when has it become ok to view porn in public? I can’t imagine anyone doing so.
I’m always amazed that you can buy adult magazines in a newstand before getting on a plane. Do people really “read” Playboy or other type magazines in airplanes? What type of people would do this?
Should American filter their Internet? I don’t know about that, but why should this even be something we have to be concerned about?
Problems with Facebook suggest
Does anyone else get annoyed with Facebook and it suggesting friends that you have no idea who they are? I get all kinds of invites based on being in Grand Rapids that I might know. No I don’t know you just because you live in Grand Rapids, MI and I live in Grand Rapids.
Does this happen in other cities? I can’t imagine this happens in New York City. Person X in New York City has just joined Facebook, do you want to be friends with her?
I received a notification today that someone new in Grand Rapids has joined Facebook. Seriously?
Is there a way I can opt out of Facebook suggest?
Should we care about Mr. Obama’s "lost brother"
Is there a story behind Mr. Obama’s lost brother that I’m not seeing? Is there a reason we should care about George Hussein Onyango Obama and the fact he is living in a hut outside of Nairobi?
I would argue there isn’t a story. Mr. Obama and his brother, step-brother? seem to be separated for a reason and a reason that shouldn’t matter on how Mr. Obama would govern if he is elected president.
Some times news papers should just leave people alone and not to far to find “dirt”
A "Concept Distro"
The other day Scott Remnant posted the idea of a concept distro and I think it is a pretty cool idea.
Something I think is pretty cool. The idea is this distro could do wild and crazy without having to be responsible for bugs/triage/etc.
I think it is a pretty cool idea, make an entire distribution you do a bzr update to “checkout” or something similar
Would this concept distribution detract the core developers from the Ubuntu development process? Or would it provide these developers something fun to do and to keep the creative juices flowing.
Anyway I thought it would be a cool idea
15 Questions Rick Warren Should Ask the Candidates
On Townhall.com Gregg Jackson states 15 questions Rick Warren should ask the candidates.
Rick Warren is the pastor of Saddleback Church and is hosting a Civil Forum in which the two candidates will be asked questions during separate sessions.
However no real tough questions are going to be asked:
“Since I’m their friend, I’m not going to give them any gotcha questions,” Mr. Warren said, adding that a typical query would be, “What’s the most difficult decision you’ve had to make, and how did you make it?”
So Mr. Jackson states 15 questions that should be asked. And I would like each candidate to answer the questions.
Some important ones (Note my numbering doesn’t match the sites):
1. What is truth? And does that truth transcend all religions, views, etc?
2. Mr. Obama you say you are pro-life but support abortion including killing a baby after delivery, how does that square?
3. Mr. Obama do you believe what the Bible says about homosexuality?
4. Do Muslims go to heaven?
5. Who is Jesus in your life?
6. What is the message of the gospel?
The answers given by the candidate would make or break the presidential contest in ways we can only dream about. Of course ho would we know they are honest and not just playing to the crowd?
Just give us a vote on an energy plan
House Leader John Bohner has called on Democrats to give us a vote on an energy plan. His statement came after House Speaker Pelosi has given the Demcrats the go ahead to vote what they want.
Just vote a yes or no on an energy plan, preferably a yes to lower prices and start drilling. Otherwise vote no so we can see how you truly view.
Obama now is in favor of releasing oil from the strategic oil reserve
Its interesting watching Mr. Obama’s views on oil change as the price of oil is now dropping. Today it was down to under$120/barrel. Yet back when it was over $145/barrel he was against opening the strategic oil reserves.
I guess polls are more powerful then true convictions. See Powerline for more information on this.
As much as you may dislike President Bush the best part about his presidency is he has never changed his views based on polling data. If he did that we would be out of Iraq already.
Intrepid and VMWare
Been running into problems running Intrepid under VMWare workstation and posted a couple of times to the kubuntu-devel mailing list and also last night had a chat on #kubuntu-devel as to what is going on.
Finally found a fix after practicing my google skills, must have been lacking last time I tried but found this post “Installing Ubuntu Intrepid Alpha 3 in VMWare“
Don’t know if others are having hte problem also don’t know if the post made it to planet.ubuntu.com so adding this there and also for my own reference.
Great post
