Coming to Manage Fusion?

Are you coming to Manage Fusion this year?  For those of you that haven’t heard Manage Fusion in the spring is the only conference that is happening for the Symantec family.

So what’s going on?  Well NS7 is the big deal, it is the release party for the NS product set.  Client Management Suite 7 and Server Management Suite will come out as released products and a lot of the sessions will focus on what’s new, best practices, how to migrate, etc…

As usual, my company, ITS Partners, will have a booth, but more importantly we will have a private conference room that I would love to talk to you in person and show off NS7, Workflow, or DLP.

Don’t send aid to Hamas

Dear President Obama,

Please do not send any money at all to Hamas, they are a terriorist organization and should not be receiving any of my tax paying money to them. In fact, don’t send any tax money to them. The reason they still exist is because countries prop them up. They are destroying not only their own people and culture, they are destroying one of our closest and best allies, Isreal.

Kubuntu Jaunty and a Dell Mini 9: A brief review

Last night I downloaded the “current” daily-live cd of Kubuntu Jaunty and booted up my Mini on it to give a test to see how things were shaping up.

First off I would like to see it looks purty.  The thing just looks great.  KDE 4.2 looks great, it is a very nice system and I’m looking to use it full time.  The network-manager applet looks great and works very well.  I was able to connect to my wireless and surf the web fine.

Things looked great.  Earlier i had a problem where the touchpad was not working correctly.  This has since been resolved and I was ready to install.

However when I went to install through Ubiquity I was unable to get past the partitioning portion of the wizard.  Whether I chose the automatic partitioning or the manual partitioning I was unable to successfully write the changes.  I tried to delete and reformat my partitions and everything else I could do.  Since I am unable to format my partitions, I am unable to proceed beyond installing and using this beautiful system.  Bug #333103 has been opened to help track this issue for me.  Any help please add to the bug comments.

Just wanted to thank everything for a great looking system and can’t wait to move to it full time.

The market is responding to the stimulus package

In an article on RealClearMarkets.com, the authors state the market is shorting President Obama’s stimulus package.  The market is not excited about the President’s stimulus package, the market wants the skeletons in the closet exposed for what they are and then dealt with.  Not propped up and bailed out.

Yet, from Nov. 4, 2008 through Feb. 12, 2009, the DJI overall fell 18%…

In January, when the Obama plan, promising far greater deficits than the two much smaller “emergency stimulus” plans signed by Pres. George W. Bush in 2008, was unveiled, the market tanked – the worst January performance in 113 years.

More pointedly, key political victories for the Team Obama spending plan have not been viewed as buying opportunities on Wall Street. A string of negative market reactions began with the December 18 announcement of a stimulus bill of $700 billion (Dow down 2.5%), continued with the January 7 announcement that the actual plan would be “on the high side” (-2.7%) and continued with last week’s 61-36 Senate vote supporting the Administration’s fiscal plan. The White House victory and the new bank bail-out plan announced the following day by Treasury Secretary Geithner were met with a 5% wipe-out in the DJI, and a decline in Treasury bond yields, indicating a “flight to quality.”

Listen I want President Obama to succeed.  I pray that he succeeds because our country needs him to.

When President Bush left office the deficit was at $800 billion with a projected 2009 deficit at $482 billion.  Now we have added $1.2 trillion more to this debt with a stroke of the pen and the market is tanking because of it.  Will we get below 5,000 points in the market, probably.  How long will it take to recover?  A long time, but I pray that somehow this stimulus package works, cause we need it to

You mean Guantanamo isn’t a GULAG after all?

This “leaked” report is all over the Internets today.  How does this fit into the President Bush is the devil narrative?  You mean Guantanamo complies with the Geneva conventions?  I’m shocked, oh wait I’m not.

According to a quote from the NY Times, if the detainees move from Gitmo to another prison, they may “go from a humane environment to a less humane environment".

I wonder what else President Obama will learn about what President Bush did?  I still believe history may judge President Bush differently then most people do today

Two more offices being built in Grand Rapids

Michigan isn’t a completely dying state as two more announcements were made today.

Robert Israel has announced he is moving the headquarters to Israel’s Furniture is  moving to a new location in a brand new building.  He is also building a new building called “the Enterprise Building” which could house a deli or restaurant.

Also an old building built in 1890s is looking for renewal.  The goal is to set it up for a wine/coffee bar, exercise facility and the top floors to be used for studios and other types of business.

Glad that all the news out of Michigan isn’t bad.
